  How it works
Install the backup software onto your computer.
Create an scheduled job that runs weekly or daily.
The software will encrypt & compress your data & copy it across the Internet.
We recommend you use this service with local-store or network-store.
So that all your data is copied locally, & then you select the most important data to be stored offsite.
Why use BACKUP TOWER remote?
Data stored offsite, for full cover from: theft, fire, flood or other disasters.
Integrated with a theft resistant local backup store (BACKUP TOWER local-store or network-store)
Secure - Your data is encrypted & stored on a secure server.
Automatic - The backup software can run a backup every day automatically.
Easy troubleshooting - Easy to fix because the setup is very straight forward.
Easy restore - Several restore options.
Restore support - We will assist if you need to restore your data in a rush.
High quality servers to protect & store your data.
Expandable space - Unlimited expansion, for your backups.
Easy to check - The backup software allows you to check if your data is backed up.
Large file support
Files over 150mb, need specialist software, in order to copy across the Internet.
However, as not everyone has such large files, we offer two options:
Standard file support = Handy backup software
Large file support = Webbackup software
  See SOFTWARE
Data Volumes & Backup speed
A standard ADSL broadband line, will allow downloads (web browsing or restores) at 2mbps, however, uploading data will be at 256k (8 times slower).
If you leave your backup running all week, 168 hours, then you know the total data you can backup, in a week.
Not all your data will need to be copied every week, because it hasn't changed, eg files. However, files that change will be copied. The biggest files are usually backup files, suchas SBS, Exchange & SQL backups, or Outlook files.
  Check your line speed here

Upload Speed 1gb file 10gb file Max data per week
ADSL 2mb/256k 16 hours 160 hours 10gb
ADSL 8mb/1mb 4 hours 40 hours 42gb
SDSL 2mb 2 hours 20 hours 84gb
Leased line 4mb 1 hour 10 hours 168gb
These figures are based on our tests using a 1mb connection from a laptop to our backup server. They will be the very best speeds you will get, it is likely that transfers will take longer.

  Price
Backups over the Internet involve three main costs:
  1. data storage space (space used by files held on our secure backup servers)
  2. data tranfer (amount of data copied across the Internet per month)
  3. bandwidth (speed of Internet connection at both ends)

We have two price bands to give our clients the best value.

Data storage - £5 per GB of data stored on our backup servers

Data transfer - £5 per GB transferred per week.
eg Exchange & SQL backups, or Outlook.pst files will be large files copied every week.
General files, can be calculated on a 10% rule, ie 10% are changed every week.

We recommend a weekly offsite backup, to give large files enough time to copy over.
  For example.

Type of data Data stored Data transfered / week
Exchange backup 10gb 10gb (copied weekly)
General files 20gb 2gb (10% changed weekly)
  = 30gb x £5/gb = 12gb x £5/gb
  = £150/mth = £60/mth TOT = £210/mth
